Maintain compensation plan audit trails by locking your plan data. Plan data can be locked at any point during your commission payout process and will allow you to:
Align QuotaPath to your company’s accounting practice of “closing the books” on commission data
Maintain flexibility by setting and editing a custom date range for the locked plan data period
Freeze commission data by pausing syncing with source data to prevent discrepancies and clawbacks
To learn how to use this feature, continue reading below.
Before locking a plan
Plan data can be locked at any point during the commission payout process. However, it is most commonly locked after the commission has been fully scheduled to be paid out.
When a data lock is applied to a plan, the plan's data mappings will no longer sync with the data source. This means that any changes to the source data will not reflect in QuotaPath. This includes changes to the deal amount, owner, date, etc. If your plan has payout eligibility rules, it is recommended to apply a data lock to only the date range of deals in which payouts have been fully scheduled. The data lock will prevent payouts from becoming eligible, as the payout eligibility mappings will also pause syncing.
Plans using our Salesforce, HubSpot, or Close 1.0 integration sources or plans with no data mappings are not eligible to use this feature.
How to lock a plan
Go to the Plans page. The Start Date and End Date columns automatically display the earliest assignment start date and latest assignment end date across all plan assignees. These dates can help you determine an appropriate range to lock.
If the plan assignees do not have assignment start or end dates, the corresponding values will be blank.
How to lock a single plan
You can lock a plan’s data from either the Plans page or the Plan Details page.
From the Plans page:
Locate the plan you want to lock.
Open the three-dot menu.
Select Lock Plan Data.
From the Plan Details page:
Open the plan.
Select the secondary action menu next to Edit plan details.
Select Lock Plan Data.
In the modal, choose the start and end dates for the period you want to lock, then confirm.
It is recommended to lock only completed date ranges in the past. This allows open deals outside the locked period to continue syncing and progressing to Closed/Won. The locked date range applies to all components, mappings, and assignees within the plan.
How to lock multiple plans
You can apply the same locked date range to several plans at once from the Plans page.
Select the plans you want to lock using the checkboxes.
Select Lock Plan Data from the bulk-action menu.
In the modal, choose the start and end dates for the locked period.
Review the selected plans, then confirm.
In the modal, select the start and end date for the locked period to apply to all selected plans, then confirm. This locked period will apply to all components/mappings and all plan assignees.
How to view a locked plan or deal
After a plan is locked, the selected range appears in the Data Lock Dates column on the Plans page. You can also view the locked date range from the Plan Details page.
Deals with dates that fall within the locked period display an orange lock icon in the Deals table. This indicates that the deal is protected by the plan’s data lock and will not receive regular source-data updates.
Manually added deals use a separate gray lock icon when they have been locked by an Admin.
You can also open the Deal Details page to view the applicable locked date range in the sidebar.
Note: The plan data lock icon currently appears only in the Deals table. It does not appear in Approvals, Payouts, or other tables.

How to sync a locked plan

You can re-sync a locked plan from either the Plans page or the Plan Details page.

Locate the locked plan.
Open the three-dot menu.

Confirm that you want to run the sync.

Summary
Plan Data Lock preserves completed commission data by pausing source updates for a selected historical period. Admins can edit the range, run a one-time re-sync, or unlock the plan when updates need to resume. Before applying a lock, confirm that all payouts in the selected period have been fully scheduled.
