How to create a temporary component

How to apply a one-time date range to Quotas and Earnings components

If you are trying to create a time-bound component quota, like a Spiff for a single month, or a quota and earnings component for just one quarter within a larger plan year, you'll likely want to use the Temporary component setting.

First, if you are creating a one-time component that involves a quota, you will make the quota temporary and then build the earnings component underneath it. If the temporary component involves no quota and is just a flat bonus or commission without attainment considered, you will make the component itself temporary.

Setting up a Temporary Quota with earnings component

  • Add your quota to your plan. Name and configure.

  • In the quota configuration, select Temporary in the setting below. Input your start and end dates.

  • Save.

  • Then, create your earnings component underneath of that quota component, as you normally would. The earnings component will inherit the quotas' start and end dates.

Setting up a Temporary Earnings component (no quota)

  • Add your component to your plan. Name and configure.

  • In the component configuration, select One-time in the setting shown below.

  • Input your start and end dates.

  • Save.
